In many different types of research, both private and academic, a particular works or mine may suddenly become an object of more intensive studies. There may be a desire to obtain the background to a particular building, to research a person or ancestor with connection to a company or to have access to literature about the history of an enterprise.

It is for this reason that the library has compiled a bibliography over Sweden’s ironworks, mines and the companies within the steel industry.

The bibliography is, in the first place, intended as a record of those articles and booklets/leaflets that are perhaps difficult to find in ordinary bibliographies. On occasions, a blast furnace or mine may only be mentioned in a single paragraph within a larger context. For this reason certain self-evident and generally known histories of ironworks and their communities may be lacking in the bibliography.

The bibliography is in continuous development and both new and old literature references are added to it when they come to our knowledge.

Even if our library contains much of what is listed in the bibliography it cannot of course include all the titles that exist. An asterisk (*) in front of the title indicates that it is not to be found in Jernkontoret’s library.
