TO 44 Non-destructive testing and metrology
Jernkontoret’s technical area 44, Non‑destructive testing and metrology, focuses its activities primarily on non‑destructive measurement techniques for quality control of finished products and for continuous process monitoring during manufacturing. Advanced data processing of signals from classical techniques for non-destructive testing (NDT) is also part of the focus within this technical area.

Purpose and general orientation
- Develop NDT from being merely a final‑inspection tool to becoming a means for process control and process information. Significant economic benefits can be achieved.
- Utilize the possibilities of handling and interpreting signals, thereby paving the way for more reliable assessment methods.
- Apply NDT to:
- hot and cold material
- various dimensions and shapes - Support activities related to examination and certification of personnel performing non‑destructive testing. This is carried out through CSM NDT Certification AB, where the technical area is represented on the company’s board.
