MITF – Metal Information

MITF – Metal Information is a forum for metallurgical issues. The purpose of MITF is to spread objective information on metals and their impact on the environment.

All the sectors of Swedish metal industry collaborate within MITF

  • Jernkontoret
  • Scandinavian Copper Development Association (SCDA)
  • Nordic Galvanizers
  • Svemin, Swedish Association of Mines, Mineral and Metal Producers
  • IKEM, Innovation and Chemical Industries in Sweden

The purpose of MITF is to spread objective information on metals and their impact on the environment. A strategically important part of the work is to create relationships of trust with authorities, politicians, companies and other stakeholders.

MITF also works to disseminate the correct terminology concerning metals. A good example of this is that the definition of a metal as a ‘heavy metal’ is in no way per se connected with its hazardousness or environmental properties but only defines that it has a high density (>4.5 g/cm3). For this reason most metals can be defined as heavy.

Collaboration takes place in project form.
