Work placements and summer jobs
Materials Science and Engineering programmes at Swedish centres of higher education are conducted in close contact with industry.
At the end of the programme, the future engineer applies and develops his knowledge in a final degree project, frequently at a company. This thesis work is a unique project that is planned jointly by the student, the company or the organisation and the supervisor at the university or institute of technology.
The steel companies offer work placements/internships for engineering students during the summer months.
Project work and on-the-job training of more modest scope are also arranged in collaboration with the companies, both at upper secondary school level and during university studies.
