Trade policy and statistics
The International Affairs Department monitors and promotes the interests of the Swedish steel industry within the trade policy area e.g. through working for free and fair international trade.
At the international level this work is carried out together with Eurofer (European Confederation of Iron and Steel Industries), ESTA (European Steel Tube Association) and the World Steel Association.
In Sweden the department has close contacts above all with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the National Board of Trade. Collaboration on trade policy issues also takes place with the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce). Developments are closely followed within the WTO (World Trade Organisation) and the ongoing negotiations relating to the so-called Doha Round.
The department produces and analyses statistical information relating to the steel industry e.g. production, consumption, deliveries and foreign trade.
