Information, marketing and history of metallurgy
The Department of Information and Matketing raises the profile of steel and the steel industry. It also supports member companies in ensuring their long-term provision of competence and skills. The department also highlights the role of Jernkontoret and its different activities.
The department collects and processes relevant information for the industry and supports Jernkontoret’s departments in external and internal communication issues. Information material that is produced is directed at a large number of target groups such as school pupils and teachers, political decision-makers, public authorities and the general public.
Library, archives and history of mining and metallurgy
This department is also responsible for Jernkontoret’s library and archives, as well as activities connected with the history of mining and metallurgy.
Jernkontoret’s book collections date back a long way. About 600 metres of shelving covers the history of mining and metallurgy and individual iron- and steelworks, research and development, environment and energy issues as well as foreign trade.
The archive also includes a collection of 7,000 portraits of notable individuals connected with mining and metallurgy in Sweden as well as a collection of some 6,000 pictures of Swedish ironworks and mines.
